چکیده

This paper studies necessary and sufficient conditions for numerical stability verification of a twodimensional time-dependent nonlinear shallow water (NLSW) system integrated by multidimensional wave digital filtering (MDWDF) network. As the verification activities are directly linked to the passivity of the system, the proposed solutions from the MDWDF network are intensively analyzed for their convergent behaviors based on the system's energy evaluation known to be sufficient condition. Together with the satisfactory of Courant-Friedrichs-Levy (CFL) bound (known to be necessary condition), which guarantees existence of a MD passive system and thus stability of the discrete equivalent, the verification process has led to uniquely a high degree of robustness of MDWDF architecture with focusing on the handling of computational error. As a result, all key aspects including properties of MD passivity and numerical stability can widely be kept under control. Keyword: NLSW, MDWDF network, stability, passivity.

The Wave Digital Reed: a Passive Formulation

In this short paper, we address the numerical simulation of the single reed excitation mechanism. In particular, we discuss a formalism for approaching the lumped nonlinearity inherent in such a model using a circuit model and the application of wave digital filters (WDFs), which are of interest in that they allow simple stability verification, a property which is not generally guaranteed if on...

Stability of the Modified Euler Method for Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of TLP

Efficiency of numerical methods is an important problem in dynamic nonlinear analyses. It is possible to use of numerical methods such as beta-Newmark in order to investigate the structural response behavior of the dynamic systems under random sea wave loads but because of necessity to analysis the offshore systems for extensive time to fatigue study it is important to use of simple stable meth...

Depth-integrated, non-hydrostatic model for wave breaking and run-up

This paper describes the formulation, verification, and validation of a depth-integrated, non-hydrostatic model with a semi-implicit, finite difference scheme. The formulation builds on the nonlinear shallow-water equations and utilizes a non-hydrostatic pressure term to describe weakly dispersive waves. A momentumconserved advection scheme enables modeling of breaking waves without the aid of ...

Vibration Suppression of Fuel Sloshing using Subband Adaptive Filtering (RESEARCH NOTE)

One of the main vibration problems of aerospace vehicles with liquid fuel propulsion system is fuel sloshing. This phenomenon is a low frequency vibrational challenge which can affect the motion of the vehicle and degrade the stability of the main control system. In this regards, the motion of the liquid will be very critical when the frequency of the sloshing is very close to the frequencies o...
